First President of the United States
The first president is shown in his military uniform as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. It was the winter of 1777, and the army was encamped at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania (the General's headquarters building is shown at the lower left). It was of course Washington's determination and strength of character which held the army together - ill-trained and woefully unfunded - through the eight long years of the Revolutionary War.
