Thirty-Second President of the United States
In my portrait of him, I have shown the thirty-second President seated at a table, with a manuscript in front of him, as if in preparation for one of his famous "Fireside Chats" on the radio networks. The American flag is to the President?s right, and the President?s Flag to his left. Fixed to the wall panelling is a bas relief of the Presidential Seal. Historians normally place President Franklin Roosevelt among the very greatest of our national leaders, principally for his strong leadership during the Second World War. My father told me that, in my very early childhood in San Antonio, Texas, he held me on his shoulders so that I could see President Roosevelt pass by in a motorcade.
