Forty-Third President of the United States
The highest honor that can come to an American portrait artist is an invitation from the President of the United States to paint his official portrait for the White House collection. It was my extraordinary privilege to be asked, in February 2010, by President George W. Bush, to come to Dallas to discuss the painting of his portrait. When the Presidential portrait was finished, the former First Lady, Laura Bush, invited me to create her portrait, as well. The paintings were unveiled at the White House on May 31, 2012, in a ceremony presided over by President Barack Obama. Working with President and Mrs. Bush was a delightful experience. I hope that my admiration and high regard for them both is reflected in my paintings of them.unveiled at the White House on May 31, 2012, in a ceremony presided over by President Barack Obama.
