Thomas Sullivan
CEO, RPM International
Thomas Sullivan was retiring as CEO of RPM International, a large, multinational company, when I went out to Medina, Ohio, to paint his portrait. A genial and friendly man, he participated in the sittings with an easy grace. In his office was this unusual bronze eagle that had served as the company's logo. The eagle, mounted on am equally unusual three-tiered pedestal, was so remarkable a motif that I felt sure it would enhance and dramatize the portrait. RPM International is a world leader in specialty coatings and sealants. RPM employs more than 14,000 people worldwide and operates 145 manufacturing facilities in 26 countries. Among its many brand names, perhaps most familiar to consumers are Rust-Oleum and Day-Glo paint products.
